Personal digital assistant - based drug reference software as tools to improve rational prescribing: Benchmark criteria and performance
Lexi-Drugs achieved the #1 rating, a 73% (29 points) on a 0 to 40-point rating scale measuring the performance of 11 PDA-based drug reference software products. The drug references were assessed in six quality criteria areas: up-to-date information, evidence-based dosing information for labeled and unlabeled indications, side effects, drug interactions, herbals and nutritional supplements, and special features. In this same study, ePocrates was rated 4th at 55% (22 points), and mobileMDX was rated 9th at 45% (18 points).

Each year, Clinical Research Associates, Inc., tests in excess of 650 different product brands, performing about 20,000 field evaluations. These comprise of Clinical Field Trials, Controlled Clinical Tests, and Laboratory Tests. In 2004, all of the 15 CRA Evaluators stated that they would incorporate Lexi-Comp's Drug Information Handbook for Dentistry, Oral Hard Tissue Diseases, Oral Soft Tissue Diseases and Dental Office Medical Emergencies into their office, and 100% rated them excellent or good and worthy of trial by colleagues.
