Installation Instructions for BlackBerry

BlackBerry® 4.x Instructions

Prerequisites

The Lexicomp ON-HAND application for BlackBerry 4.x requires a strong cellular signal for installation and use. The application may transfer a significant amount of data which could result in charges from your carrier. We recommend that you utilize an unlimited data plan when installing and using this product. Please contact your carrier for assistance with your data plan.

Installation

1. Open the browser on your BlackBerry and navigate to http://mobile.lexi.com.
2. Click the Download Link to initiate the download, then click the DOWNLOAD button.
3. Once the installation is complete, click the RUN button.

Activation

Product Code:

1. Open the Lexicomp ON-HAND application if it is not already running.
2. Enter the Product Code (see above).
3. Click the OK button and your subscription information will download to your BlackBerry. Please do not close the application until this is complete.
4. Your ON-HAND subscription should be active and ready to use.

Updating

No updating is required with this version. The Lexicomp ON-HAND application for BlackBerry 4.x accesses the most up-to-date information available.

BlackBerry® 5.0 or Higher Instructions

Prerequisites

The Lexicomp ON-HAND for BlackBerry 5.0 requires a memory card and a strong cellular or Wi-Fi signal for installation. The application may transfer a significant amount of data which could result in charges from your carrier. We recommend that you utilize an unlimited data plan or connect to a Wi-Fi network when installing or updating this product. Please contact your carrier for assistance with your data plan or with utilizing a Wi-Fi connection.

The Lexicomp ON-HAND software for BlackBerry 5.0 requires OS 5.0 or later. To verify you have a compatible version, select OPTIONS > ABOUT. On this screen, you should see your version number. It should begin with the letter V. If you have an earlier version, please use the link below to see if your device can be updated:

Installation

1. Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection on your BlackBerry.
2. Navigate to http://blackberry.lexi.com using the default browser on your device.
3. Click the "Download Lexicomp ON-HAND" link.
4. Click the DOWNLOAD button.
5. You should receive a message that reads: "The application was successfully installed".
6. Click RUN from this window.

Activation

Product Code:

1. Open the Lexicomp ON-HAND application on your BlackBerry. (This may be located in the Downloads folder).
2. If opening the application for the first time, please read and accept the license agreement.
3. To accept the license agreement, press your BLACKBERRY button and click ACCEPT.
4. Enter your registration information.
5. Press the BLACKBERRY button and click REGISTER.
6. Press the BLACKBERRY button and click UPDATE.
7. Click ADD PRODUCT.
8. Enter the Product Code (see above) and click APPLY. A "Successful Activation" message will be displayed. Click OK to this message.

Updating

1. Before you can begin accessing your subscription, the databases need to be downloaded. Press the BLACKBERRY button and click UPDATE.
2. Place check marks next to the databases you wish to install, or press the BLACKBERRY button and click SELECT ALL.
3. Press the BLACKBERRY button and click UPDATE PRODUCTS.
4. After the update is complete, press the BLACKBERRY button and select LIBRARY.
5. Select a database and begin accessing your Lexicomp ON-HAND subscription.

Renewing Customers

1. Tap on the Lexicomp On-Hand application on your device.
2. Press the BLACKBERRY button and click UPDATE.
3. Click ADD PRODUCT.
4. Enter the Product Code (see above) and click APPLY. A "Successful Activation" message will be displayed. Click OK to this message.

Important Notes

1. The Add Product button will remain in the Update list. Once your product code is entered you will not need to use this button again unless you purchase additional product codes.
2. You may receive a "Subscription Expired" message within the next 30 days. This is only alerting you that the 30-day trial you downloaded initially has expired. Your subscription has not expired and will be completely functional after this period.

BlackBerry® 10 Instructions

You have been provided access to Lexicomp software for your handheld device. To access your software, please use the following instructions and make a note of the preauthorized purchase code for future reference.

Product Code:

New Customer Installation (Users who do not have the application installed)

1. Ensure you have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
2. On your BlackBerry 10 device, tap the BlackBerry World icon and search for 'Lexicomp'.
3. Select Lexicomp and tap Download.
4. When the app is installed, tap on the Lexicomp icon.
5. Please read and accept the license agreement.
6. You must register with your organizational email address. If you have an account, enter your organizational email and password and tap Sign In. If you forgot your password, enter your email and use the Forgot Password button or visit the password reset page. Otherwise, tap on the Create Account button. Enter your registration information and tap Register.
7. If prompted, please select SD Card for database storage.
8. Tap on Enter Product Code when message appears.
9. An "Enter Product Code" message will be displayed. Tap OK to this message.
10. Enter the product code (see above) and tap OK. A "Successful Activation" message will be displayed. Tap OK to this message.
11. Before you can begin accessing your subscription, the databases need to be downloaded.
12. Within the Update screen, place check marks next to the databases you wish to install, or tap the Select All button and then tap Begin Update.
13. 13. After the update is complete, tap the Lexicomp icon and begin accessing your Lexicomp subscription.

Important Notes

1. Updates may take some time, depending upon the database(s) selected, the connection speed, and the speed of your device's memory (SD card or internal).

3. The application requires an BlackBerry 10 powered device running an OS version of 10.0 or higher, access to the BlackBerry World and 600 MB of available space. To verify you have a compatible version, tap "Settings" then "About".
4. The BlackBerry World requires you to have a BlackBerry ID. If you do not have a google gmail account, please visit http://www.blackberry.com to create one.
